New Apartment

It didn't take long. We found a place to live in New Haven and will move by the start of March. It's a great place, and we are fortunate to find it. It's a 1930s building, so it's great architecture with original tile, moldings, fixtures. We are splurging, too --- it's a three bedroom! Once we move in, we will post photos of it all. It's downtown New Haven, near great restaurants.

Week 1: Crazy

Dave's first week at FOX proved to be challenging for the both of us. More so, likely, for Dave because of the commute. I can't wait to move closer to the train station.

Schedules And Oysters

Thank you all for your kind words of congrats to Dave. It's been a whirlwind the last few days since we found out. He starts tomorrow, working a 9-6 Monday through Friday schedule, which means a commute in rush hour. He will go to a 2-10 Tuesday through Saturday schedule the week of the 28th. That will be his regular schedule. This works well because I now works a 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. shift at the Hartford Courant. However, I work Monday through Friday. There's a chance, though, that in the near future, I will can work Tues-Sat.

Dave's uncle Jim and his family live in Connecticut, and we've been hanging out with them on occassion. Jim and his wife Melinda have eight kids, ranging in age from 12 to 26, I think. All of them are boys, except for one, Kiara, who lives in Hawaii on a Naval base. Last night, we went out to dinner with cousin Adrian, his wife Alexis and their son Dimetri at this wonderful new seafood restaurant call Max Fish. The food was excellent. I have really gotten into eating oysters on the half shell. They are so good! It's a rush.

Finally, We Heard

We have some great news to share. Dave did get the FoxNews.com job in Manhattan and starts Monday! After what seems like forever, the new boss man called yesterday to offer him the job. So, that means another move and commutes for both of us. We plan to move to New Haven likely in March sometime, depending on if and when we can get out of our current lease. In the meantime, Dave faces a three-hour commute (that's one way) every day until we move. We always seem to be moving! We hope this will be the last move for a couple of years at least.

Blogging And Then Some

Since most of our family and friends live miles and miles away, we decided to start this blog to help stay connected and to share our lives in a 21st Century way. (Since both of us are in the media biz, we figured it was about time to jump on the wagon.) From pictures and funny stories, we hope that this will amuse and entertain our readers, who by the way are encouraged to comment at all times on anything. Interactive, afterall, is the name of the game. And Liz promises to not post too many pictures of her cats. So on to the blogging already....

We likely are facing yet another move. Dave has interviewed (several times now) for an editor job at FoxNews.com. Yes, we know what you are thinking....Dave and Bill O'Reilly together at last! Call them the odd couple. Seriously, though, the Web site is mostly seperate from the tv side of Mr. Murdoch's empire. And hey, we all will one day be working for Ruport Murdoch.

Anyways, the boss man at FoxNews.com seems totally interested in Dave (even said Dave reminds him of himself from back in the day.) It's only a matter of days until we hear the verdict.

So, the job --- is located in Manhattan. We live in Hartford. That's a heafty commute. But we plan to relocate to New Haven, which is on the metro north train line. That means a nearly two-hour train ride for day and a 40-minute commute for Liz, who will continue working for the Hartford Courant. And New Haven is on Long Island Sound!

But hey--everyone commutes out here.
