Big Boy Bath + more

Sam is getting too small for his infant tub - mainly because when I lift him up to wash his behind his head comes close to hitting our kitchen cabinets above the sink.

So, the other day we tried the big boy tub. He loved it!

Sam's First Trip To D.C.

Sam and I traveled to D.C. over the weekend to visit Nathan and Kyle. Friday was Nathan's birthday and Sam wanted to take his uncle out for lunch.

Sam did well during the trip via Amtrak. It was difficult getting on and off the train with our luggage, but there were many kind people to help us out.

We left Thursday afternoon, and on Friday, we took the uncles for lunch at Red Robin and then to the mall to pick up cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory. Yummy!

We spend Saturday hanging out, eating lunch at Panera and shopping at Barnes and Noble and Best Buy.

A Photo Review

Here are a few recent photos of Sam, taken over the past couple of weeks. The last two photos in the Picasa album were taken yesterday, my birthday. We had a babysitter come for the first time, so Dave and I could go out to dinner. It was very strange and hard for us to leave the house without him. But we did enjoy ourselves, dining at an Italian restaurant in our neighborhood. The babysitter is the nursery worker at our church, so Sam knew her, which made us feel better.

A Trip North

A week ago we ventured north, traveling through Connecticut to visit the Monicos in the Berkshires.

We took MetroNorth to New Haven, where we rented a car. We stopped in Wethersfield to visit our friends Jim, Chris and baby Reid. Several other friends stopped by, too, including Leeanne and Rob and the Prindles.

Unfortunately, we forgot our camera and didn't buy a disposable camera until we reached Massachusetts. There are a few photos of us on Facebook.

We did manage to take some photos with Sam's great grandparents. I apologize for taking so long to post them, but I had to get them "developed."

Food!

We started Sam on rice cereal today.

Thanks to my parents and Uncle Jimmy, we were able to purchase a high-chair, which arrived yesterday. I put it together last night, and Sam gave it a test drive this morning.

He seemed to like the cereal, always attempting to just chew on the spoon. But, the cereal did go down.

Yes, Sam is wearing a Packers outfit. It was a gift from Aunt Susie and Uncle Tony. Sometimes you must do things just to appease your family even though you are 100 percent against it! (He did spit up on it.) GO BEARS!

Sam and I flew to Wisconsin on Jan. 1 to attend my grandma's funeral on the 2nd. It was the most uneventful flying experience I have ever had. All of my flights to Wisconsin and back home were on time -- and arriving at the destinations early! Sam was such a good baby. He either slept or played in my lap during the flights. The take offs and landings didn't seem to bother him. So, to date, Sam has been in a car, a taxi, a train, a subway and a plane. Maybe we need to go on a boat excursion next.

Grandma's funeral was a lovely service. Sam met many more people, including the Fairchilds, Kelly Bull, the Nelsons, some of the Bittner clan and Counsin Ben. And yes, it's Anna Bittner (aka Greta II) giving Sam a beer in one of the photos in the first gallery below. The cold bottle felt good on his gums. Sam's front bottom teeth are coming in!
