The Belly

Dave took this photo of me and my belly on Saturday. I'm about 36 weeks pregnant here, the start of the last month. Our little jelly bean will likely prove to be a big baby....

Happy Halloween!

We've had an action-packed weekend here in Brooklyn. On Saturday, we carved a pumpkin. Sam, who has been obsessed with pumpkins, was mesmerized by the ritual. While out on walks, Sam points out every single pumpkin he sees, and he has been eyeing our pumpkin since we got it.

He enjoyed a pumpkin-shaped sugar cookie while watching Dad carve.

Today, we participated in the annual Halloween festival at Owls Head Park, within walking distance of our home. Hundreds of people, mainly kids, dressed up in costumes and enjoying food, music and Halloween activities. Sam's favorite part was the make-shift pumpkin patch in which he was able to touch and pick up several pumpkins.

We switched Sam's costume up a bit. For the Halloween parade earlier in the month, he was a train engineer. But today he was an elite marathon runner. I "borrowed" the New York City Marathon logo and created a ID tag for Sam to wear on his chest. Besides his name -- the elite runners are identified by name, not number -- it says: "ING New York City Marathon 2030" and "Sam is sponsored by NortheastRunner.com," which is Dave's website. A photo of Dave after he completed the 2008 NYC Marathon is also on there. He also wore Dave's marathon medal.

Anniversary

We celebrated our 3-year anniversary on Wednesday. Dave was able to snag a day off from work to celebrate.

It was a beautiful fall day that included lunch with Dave's friend, Justin, who lives in Queens.

We had our babysitter come in the evening, and as you can tell from the photo that she took of us, Sam was not pleased that we were leaving.

Dave surprised me by having a car service pick us up to take us to dinner at a restaurant in Bay Ridge called Casa Pepe. (I'm not very mobile these days.) The food was excellent! We also stopped by our favorite diner for a slice of pie before heading home.

Dave also got me flowers. How lucky am I!?

Raggamuffin Parade

Bay Ridge held its annual Raggamuffin Parade today. Basically, it's thousands of children dressed in their Halloween costumes parading down 3rd Avenue, about two blocks from our home. Anyone can join in the fun.

So, with Dave at work today, Sam and I joined in the fun with some fellow moms. Sam dressed up as a train engineer in his overalls and a borrowed hat. I went as a tired pregnant lady.....

Finger Painting

Sam did some finger painting with pudding on a rainy day this past week. I thought about trying the actual finger paints, but I knew he would just eat away.

I stripped him down to his diaper, and he seems to have a great time. He obviously was very messy. I expected a lengthy clean up. What I didn't expect, however, was for him to take is diaper off after I took him out of his high-chair. He proceeded to run around the living room and then pee. Twice. Once on book that I then threw away!

Back In Brooklyn

We made it home Tuesday afternoon after an uneventful two days of driving. It was a whirlwind trip, and we were glad we could see so many people - even if it was just for a few hours.
