Totally 'Tosa

We are in our new home! And I'm finally able to post something here because we just got our internet service installed today. (We also are the proud owners of a TV -- we haven't had one since Sept. of 2009!)

Jonah and I arrived in Wauwatosa on the 4th of July. Our new washer/dryer were delivered on Friday morning, and the moving van arrived on Friday afternoon. The first two items off the truck were NOT ours. Needless to say, I was freaked for a bit that they movers brought the wrong stuff. Alas, it all went fine.

Papa and Grandma Debbie brought Sam and Henry up on Saturday. They love the house, the huge backyard and the park only a block away. We've met a few of the neighbors, including a family across the street with children the same age as ours. In fact, Sam will be in 4K with the oldest girl starting this fall.

We still have lots to unpack. And I have lots of photos to upload here, including a photo of the scrumptious cake the boys picked out for Dave's birthday today . I also plan to share a few photos my friend Joy took of Jonah. So much to do, so little time!

Mining Museum

We ventured to the Rollo Jamison Muesum and the Mining Musuem in Platteville today. The boys learned all about "old stuff" and the history of lead mining in Platteville. We toured the Rollo Jamison Museum, which is essentially one man's collection of stuff from the early 20th Century. We then all went down into the mine, which the boys enjoyed - though they complained about the coldness. The grand finale was a small train ride around the grounds of the mine. Enjoy the photos.

We are homeowners!

Jonah and I traveled to Wauwatosa on Thursday in preparation for the closing on our home Friday. We met up with Dave at the house for a walk through. Everything looked really good and really clean. At 8 a.m. Friday, the three of us went to the closing, briefly met the sellers and signed all the paperwork. Then, we got the keys! We spent a few hours on Friday cleaning, but it was rather spotless. Dave will be staying at the house for the next week, and the rest of us are not moving in until July 5. That's the earliest the movers could bring all of our stuff.

From trains to riverboats

We've had an eventful week, starting with a trip on Tuesday to Fennimore to visit a small train museum and a toy museum. Fennimore is also home to Igor, a large, cheese-eating mouse. He's the mascot for a cheese company.

Jonah also turned 4 months on Tuesday. Here is a photo of my happy, happy boy:

On Thursday, we had a visit from the Caseys. We managed to get a photo of all the kids after a trip to the pool and a pizza supper. Madelyn is now 6 and Emma is 3.

And today we traveled to Dubuque to visit the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.

Jumpin' Jane's

Dave and I took the boys to a place called Jumpin' Jane's in Dubuque. In its simplicity, it's a warehouse filled with huge, bouncy castle-like fun. It also had food and other games. Needless to say, the boys had a blast. Their favorite air-filled contraption looked like the Titanic sinking. You climb up to the top of the sinking ship and slide down into the "water." Despite the fact that this ride was high up and steep, Henry and Sam thought it was the best thing ever. We spent about two hours there. I hung out with Jonah most of the time, and this place is so awesome that they have a few leather lounger chairs with a TV tuned to HGTV! I fed Jonah and watched House Hunters! Perfection!
